Those who have been following my blog for a while know that I have already taken night shots with my DJI Mavic Pro 1. At least I tried. I saw a picture on Instagram where someone put their car in a meadow during blue hour and took a picture of the top down with the drone. I was gonna try something like that at our place at night. . .

The location is THE LONEY ROAD. As already mentioned at the post office, this road is relatively little used, so I can easily park my car there in the middle of the road. It was already completely dark. There was still some residual snow which could give a good contrast to the black of the night. I placed the car next to a pile of wood, as far as possible in the middle of the road, and looked for a gap in the woods where I could send the drone up. The drone immediately complained that it was too dark to fly and that the sensors would not work. Still, I got it at about 50-80 meters above my car. It was windy up there, at least the remote showed me. I was already concerned the long exposure wouldn’t work. I tried a bit: ISO 400, exposure time 1 1/2 – 3 seconds. The pictures looked good on the mobile phone, on the PC as well. Slightly noisy due to ISO and slightly shaky due to wind. But perfect for Instagram. I’ll upload you a RAW image and the final product.
